You recently entered the top 3 of Don’t forget the lyrics. Emu?
Benoît: It’s true that I burst into tears on set when I went third and I think that’s the first moment where I started to realize what’s really happening to me. And it’s crazy, it’s really the consecration of hard work and it pays so well that it’s really crazy… I’ve rarely been so good in my life, I’ve always been someone rather average when it came to grades or competitions. It’s the first time in my life that I’m in a top 3! I’m really on the podium.
Did you think you could reach the podium?
The podium? It’s unexpected! We really can’t imagine that when we start (laughs). Really, from the very beginning, it’s show by show and we’ll see what happens. But it’s true that everything seems unattainable when you start and the higher you climb, you tell yourself that nothing has changed. That is to say, I always take show by show and come what may (laughs).
You enter a little more in the history of the show with the winning record. There’s something to be proud of, right?
Yes, frankly I’m proud because it’s my first record and I’m very, very, very, very, happy with it. I found it a shame to arrive on the podium and not have a single record but then in itself, the number of victories doesn’t represent much in the sense that it doesn’t change anything in the ranking for example. It’s really just a little extra medal for fame (laughs). However, the victory record still means one thing: that we are the person who has stayed on TV the longest and that is beautiful.
How do we manage to last so long?
Physically, it’s super difficult and it’s true that this is a bit of an endurance record. We can see it like that too but I was expecting it a little, because I have a body which, despite fatigue, knows how to dig into its limits. My body is a bit used to operating on nerves (laughs). So at that level, I knew that my body was going to be capable of miracles.
