This Tuesday evening, the premiere of the new series by author Chantal Cadieux, Mea Culpa, was presented on ICI Télé.

We invite you to read our impressions of this new fiction here.

The series tells the story of Bérénice (Mélissa Désormeaux-Poulin), a mediator in a restorative justice center. This supports the approach of people who are victims of criminal acts or who have committed them, to encourage dialogue between them and repair the harm caused. She did not choose this profession by chance since 25 years ago, she and her best friends were forever scarred by a brutal attack during an end-of-year party. One of them was killed and another was left quadriplegic. The culprit, having obtained his parole, returns to their lives and upsets their balance.

Viewers spoke out in large numbers about this bold proposal. If many say they are excited by this introduction, recalling in particular the series Fragments or the film They were Five, the most popular comment is a link with the numerous flashbacks.

  • « When things go backwards in time, I have a hard time moving forward. »
  • « I liked it, but when they return to their youth I have a hard time following, so I hope it won’t be like that every week. »
  • « I liked it! But when we go back in time, I like it less. »
  • « I liked it, but going back becomes more confusing than anything else, so we’ll see what happens next. »
  • « I listened to it a second time when they were young. Very mixing. »
  • « Mixing up, going back too often, difficulty keeping track of it all. I’m going to drop this show. »

It must be said that My fault proposes three temporalities. The present, while the friends see David Fraser (Maxim Gaudette) again after his release from prison, the past, where we are brought back to the evening of the attack, then the future, when David will be savagely attacked and Bérénice will have to go to the hospital to see him. It’s certain that it’s a lot for the start of the season, but we imagine that all this will settle down over time, so let’s be patient…

My fault is broadcast on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ICI Télé. Each week, the following episode is available first on ICI TOU..EXTRA.
