One room, four atmospheres: at the Arkéa Arena in Floirac, the arrival of the electro duo Justice (February 5) will inevitably be an event. Like that of Philippe Katerine, who promises a large format show (on April 15) an expected delight. As for the Pixies (May 6), absent from Bordeaux for thirty years, we continue, despite the weight of the years, to believe in the resurrection of the group which revolutionized American and therefore global rock.
Three albums in less than two years, outside the classical circuits. David Babin, aka Babx, never does things like everyone else. The pianist and singer completes his trilogy at the start of 2025 with “The Years of Light”, irradiated by the birth of a child, from the southern city where he settled, but also by the warlike and fascist threat, from the trampled planet. In Créon, in March.
Initially, the comic strip by Hippolyte, an author on board the “Ocean Viking”, the SOS Méditerranée boat which comes to the aid of people risking their lives by attempting the crossing. Working alongside the association for years, the Rocher de Palmer brings together, for an evening of support and a unique show, the author, the trumpeter and pianist Erik Truffaz as well as the actress Sandrine Bonnaire for a drawn musical reading. “The Whisper of the Sea”, in February, at Rocher de Palmer in Cenon. Rocher where the Libertines, Zinée, Lisa Ekdahl and Émile Parisien will also meet: an eclectic and truly delicious program.
At the Fémina theater in Bordeaux, in March, we will dive into a bath of nostalgia with Alain Souchon, accompanied by his sons Pierre Souchon and Ours, as well as with Louis Chedid who, for forty years, has been distilling his light and dreamy songs. Thomas Dutronc will do the split between acoustic music and modern pop at Pin galant in Mérignac in April. On the rap and hip-hop side, Stomy Bugsy, Amine, Assia and Tribal King will be at the Casino theater in Bordeaux in January. The Arena will see Ninho and Niska in January, and the musical “La Haine” in March.
2 Humor: laughter in Bordeaux
The Fous laughs of Bordeaux, from March 17 to 23 in the Bordeaux theaters, at the Casino and at the Pin galant in Mérignac, will also resonate in the large Arena during the closing evening, with Oxmo Puccino as master of ceremonies. At the Arena, again, will parade no less than the Jamel Comedy club, Gad Elmaleh in March, and Waly Dia in April.
The month of May will see the Fémina welcome Dany Boon, Edgar Yves and the comedians from France Inter, while the Pin galant will be taken over by Tanguy Pastureau.
3 Dance: Philippe Découflé, world premiere
In April, we will watch one of the greatest French choreographers in a world premiere: Philippe Découflé will give his new creation, “Le Temps”, at Carré-Colonnes in Saint-Médard-en-Jalles.
But before that, Israeli choreographer Sharon Eyal will propel seven dancers onto the Arcachon stage interacting with the music of DJ Koreless in a poisonous and dark ballet. A program from the Opera, which brings back its always invigorating Quatre Tendances in April and invites Wayne McGregor, Xenia Wiest, Sol León & Paul Lightfoot, and Ana Isabel Casquilho, for four views of contemporary choreographers.
The CDCN Manufacture will focus on young audiences in February for Pouce! An excellent festival to discover new forms that have nothing to envy of the greats. We are also booking “Dogs” by Michel Schweizer in March. As for Pin galant, it opened its season with hip-hop, and continues its momentum with big names: Dyptik, Mehdi Kerkouche and Hervé Koubi.
4 Classical: guitar and piano
Every spring, the Vibre! delights string quartet lovers, a genre rarely programmed in Bordeaux the rest of the year even though its repertoire is unanimously considered the richest in the field of chamber music. But 2025 is an exceptional year because it is that of the triennial competition. Every afternoon from May 19 to 24, except the 21st, ten young quartets from around the world, hand-picked, will show themselves in their best light in both free and imposed works of a very wide variety. All events will take place at the Bordeaux Auditorium and will be freely accessible.
Thibaut Cauvin, who we saw at the start of the season at the Auditorium for a supercharged concert with M, is doing it again in February at Fémina to celebrate his 40th birthday. On the menu, guests and surprises… At the Opera, big names: Pascal Quignard, Patricia Petibon, Brad Mehldau…
5 Theatre: from “Phèdre” to exile
We start with a piece by Fanny de Chaillé, who had already delighted us with her “Choir” at the start of the season. “Another history of theater” features four young performers reenacting major scenes from the repertoire to better show acting and theatrical illusion. Still at TNBA, after “Carmen. », François Gremaud presents in May the first part of his trilogy dedicated to the heroines of the stage: “Phèdre”.
