Max, the new Mende transport arrives: all the practical information for using it

Max, the Mende transport network, came into operation at the start of 2025. A short guide to using it.

What if, among your good resolutions, was to drive less? This is a good opportunity to take advantage of the launch of Max, the new transport network of the City of Mende which succeeds the Tum, to take your first steps in public transport.

A separate line for schools

From now on, school transport no longer uses the same buses as urban transport.
Students benefiting from transport have three lines (SCO1, 2 and 3) of their own (the third line, for children from Mas, Chanteruéjols, Bahours and Lou Chaousse, will come into service in September).

School transport remains identical in its services and timetables to that which existed until today.

On the outward journey, the service serves all educational establishments for arrival before 8 a.m. On their return, the service picks up students from different establishments from 4:30 p.m. then a second pick-up from 6 p.m. (and noon on Wednesdays).

In the event of overload of buses on SCO1 and SCO2 services, students will be able to board buses on lines 1 and 2 from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. from Monday to Friday, to go to their schools.

Two landlines six days a week

Line 1 goes from east to west, between LouChaousse and Fontanilles, line 2 goes from north to south, from the Causse d'Auge to Chapter and Tuff.

The two lines intersect at the bus station. They operate six days a week, Monday to Saturday, and serve around sixty stops. On Saturdays, the service is provided according to a simplified circuit, line 3 (which only runs on that day).

The buses in circulation are small and medium capacity vehicles.

Landline schedules

The timetables of these two new lines are adapted to have significant frequencies during peak hours (a bus every 30 minutes on average during peak hours, and a bus every 45 minutes during off-peak hours).

The map of landlines and on-demand transport.
DR – DR

On line 1: buses every 20 to 30 minutes during peak hours and approximately every 40 minutes during off-peak hours. On line 2: buses every 30 to 40 minutes during peak hours and every 45 to 50 minutes during off-peak hours. Hourly range from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. for landlines.

To find out the timetables, an application, called Zenbus, can be downloaded to your smartphone. It allows buses to be located in real time.

Transportation on demand

This is the big news. From 71 stops, you can reach fifteen points of interest, public services, medical services, administrative services, shops. For example, the following are served: the wheat market, the hospital, the Piencourt residence, the Jean-Jaurès space, the shopping center and even the cemeteries. The advantage is that the TAD serves areas not served by landlines, such as Le Mas, Chanteruéjols, Bahours, Chabrits, les Boulaines, Sirvens, Gardès, Ramade.
The service is stop-to-stop: 71 stops dedicated to the TAD are available, some of which are in common with fixed bus lines 1 and 2.

The TAD operates Monday to Friday from 8:40 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Round trip is possible, and must be indicated at the time of booking. A door-to-door transport option is available for over 75s and people with reduced mobility, who also benefit from a 50% fare reduction.

This dynamic transport service will eventually be equipped with three nine-seater electric minibuses, one of which is accessible to people with reduced mobility (PRM).

Reservations can be made by telephone on 04 66 49 03 81 or online www.hugon-tourisme.com from 3 weeks before the trip and up to 2 hours before departure. A dedicated mobile application will be available from March.

Prices, tickets and subscriptions

For fixed bus lines : 1€ per day (unlimited number of trips); €8 for 10 days of travel; €100 for an annual subscription at full price; €15 per annual subscription for young people, students, social beneficiaries; €15 per annual subscription for seniors.

For on-demand transportation(TAD): €2 per one way. Reduced rate of €1 per one-way ticket for over 75s and people with reduced mobility (PRM). The ticket must be paid on the bus.

For school bus: €15 per year. To have access to school buses and landlines and therefore take the bus on Wednesday afternoons or during school holidays for example, you must take out both subscriptions (for a total of €30 per year).

Where to contact?

To take out a subscription, go to Voyages Boulet, 1 rue du Chapter in Mende (04 66 65 19 88).

Contact points will be gradually developed at the tourist office, Hyper U and the Lozérien Mobility Agency.

Single tickets and notebooks can be purchased directly on the bus from the driver. Bring change if possible.

More information on Facebook, on the “MAX Mende Mobilités” page, on the website www.max-mende-mobilites.fr or on mende.fr. A brochure will be available soon.
