The Princess of Wales and Queen Camilla matched at Christmas service at Sandringham

The British royal family attended the Christmas service at Sandringham Church this Wednesday, December 25. The Princess of Wales, whose appearances have been rare for a year, was scrutinized when she arrived and left the church, as well as Queen Camilla, who has been discreet for several weeks for health reasons. Camilla and Catherine were matched for this family outing around King Charles III.

As tradition dictates, the British royal family gathered this Tuesday and Wednesday to celebrate New Year's Eve and Christmas Day. Christmas celebrations take place every year at Sandringham, the Windsors' holiday home in Norfolk. Because the events are private, the family's appearance at the Christmas Day church service is the only opportunity for journalists to photograph the royals.

On December 25, like every year, the Windsors went to Sainte-Madeleine Church by walking the few dozen meters that separate the church from Sandringham House. King Charles III was surrounded by Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and Princess Anne with Sir Timothy Laurence. Prince William and Princess Catherine were accompanied by Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie attended with their daughter and son, Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor and the Earl of Wessex.

Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi were accompanied by Edoardo's son Wolfie. Other members, such as Peter Phillips, Mike and Zara Tindall and the children and grandchildren of Princess Margaret were present. The Princess of Wales made a notable appearance, matching Queen Camilla. Both the Queen and the future Queen wore a long green coat and a green hat.

The Princess of Wales has made few official engagements throughout 2024, battling cancer since the start of the year. Prince William's wife finished her chemotherapy treatment this summer but she continues to take it easy. King Charles III is still fighting his cancer, which he was diagnosed with in February. As for Queen Camilla, she has been suffering for several weeks from a lung infection whose convalescence is prolonged and prevents her from making certain major public commitments, including trips abroad.
