Virgin River (Netflix): a breakup between Mel and Jack in season 7? Clues from the creator of the series

Launched in 2019, Virgin River follows the adventures of Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge), who arrives in the town of Virgin River to start a new chapter in her life. Viewers were able to follow the evolution of his love life, and more particularly his relationship with Jack Sheridan (played by Martin Henderson).

On December 19, the streaming platform released season 6 of Virgin River. At the center of these 10 new episodes: the preparation for the wedding of Mel and Jack, who finally said yes to each other during the finale.

Virgin River: what does season 7 have in store for us?

While some might have seen this marriage as a nice conclusion to the series, it will not be so. Last October, Netflix formalized the order for a seventh season for Virgin River. Questioned by the streaming platform via its Tudum site, the creator of the series indulged in some confidences about future events. He notably mentioned Mel and Jack's relationship.

There's still a lot to explore with these characters. I think we're just starting to see Mel and Jack function as a married couple, which is exciting. Season 7 will explore their honeymoon phase as they build their life on the farm, which can bring its fair share of challenges“, explained Patrick Sean Smith.

Virgin River: a shock breakup between Jack and Mel in season 7?

If Mel and Jack's life as a couple could be put to the test, a shock breakup could be possible. Here again, Patrick Sean Smith does not hesitate to approach the subject.

I can't imagine creating a situation where you think Mel and Jack are going to break up. It forces you to dig a little deeper to explore, well, what other problems might they be having in their relationship? Especially when you want to maintain a romantic perspective. I think Alex (Breckenridgeet) and Martin (Henderson) play all these moments exceptionally well, focusing on the emotional stakes rather than the uncertainty of 'will they, won't they'“, he says.
