DanDaDan: season 2 is revealed in images
For many fans of Japanese animation, fall 2024 was marked by a few little nuggets, starting with DanDaDan. Produced by Science SARU and distributed in France by Netflix, Crunchyroll and ADN, it is an adaptation of the eponymous manga written by Yukinobu Tatsu for the ShonenJump+ platformShūeisha’s digital platform. Considered (with Sakomoto Days) as one of the great hopes of shōnen fansthe manga tells the story of Momo Ayase and Okarun, two high school students who become friends over issues of the occult and UFOs. The manga mixes the genre of J-Horror, sci-fi and romantic comedy, all with a good dose of schoolboy humor.
Twelve episodes long, season 1 of DanDaDan concluded on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the very beginning of the Kito Family arc. In order to help Jiji Endoji get rid of the ghost that haunts his house, Momo Ayase and Okarun went to a beautiful Japanese hot spring resort. But this idyllic setting hides terrifying dangers: Momo Ayase is sexually assaulted in the public baths, while Okarun and Jiji discover a hidden room in the house, covered in terrifying papers. Ending an episode like this is certainly sadism, but Science SARU quickly announced that season 2 will be released in July 2025.
On the occasion of Jump Festa 2025, the big annual mass organized by Shūeisha which is currently being held in Japan and which gives pride of place to the most popular anime, Science SARU unveiled the first teaser for season 2 of DanDaDan. The teaser focuses entirely on the Kito Family arc and the ghost that haunts the Endoji village. He also reveals, in his last shot, an extremely powerful character, and one that fans of the manga are impatiently waiting to discover in the anime version: The Evil Eye.
At any rate, we have difficulty masking our impatience to find Momo Ayase and Okarun in the sequel to DanDaDanwhich is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Japanese animated series of 2025!
