Fans ofOutlander who follow part 2 of season 7 every week on Netflix almost fell off their sofa when discovering a plot from episode 11 in which Claire and John Gray sleep together. And yet, the version seen in the series is very wise, compared to what we could have seen.

This part 2 of season 7 ofOutlander really feels like a roller coaster! After returning to Scotland, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) quickly had to leave the country to return to the United States, accompanied by Ian. But surprisingly, at the end of episode 10, Claire discovered that Jamie (Sam Heughan) had perished in the sinking of the boat that was bringing him back to her. To drive the point home, Lord John Gray (David Berry) told her that she was suspected of treason and that she had to marry him to avoid certain death. Our heroine therefore agreed to put the ring on her finger and, in episode 11, under the influence of grief and alcohol, she shared Lord John’s bed. A scene which was not explicitly shown on screen, the series preferring a long discussion in bed between the two characters.

Outlander saison 7 : “I was ready“… David Berry admits that the love scene between John Gray and Claire almost was more explicit

Questioned by the Business Insider site, David Berry, the interpreter of John Grey, gave some details on the famous intimate scene between his character and that of Caitriona Balfe. To prepare it, the two actors were able to count on the support of Vanessa Coffey, the intimacy coordinator who has worked on the series since the sixth season. “We both had different ideas on how to show it and having Vanessa to referee was great. It was a complicated thing because it’s not just any love scene.” explained the actor whose character was left in a bad position at the end of episode 12. If David Berry is satisfied with the result, he still admitted to wondering: “‘Should we have done more?’ I was ready to go as far as possible”, confided the actor, adding: “There were ideas about how far we should go and questions like, ‘Do the audience really want to see Claire and John in action?’ I don’t know the answer!”. We do, and what we saw was quite enough!

I was on the sidelines“: why the scene between Claire and John in Outlander is important to David Berry

Present in the casting ofOutlander since 2013, although he does not play in all episodes or in all seasons, David Berry had until now never filmed intimate scenes for the series. It’s now done! “As someone who has been playing in this show for eight years, I was kind of on the sidelines so it was a great opportunity for me (…) I was very excited to play something so challenging and strange”, explained the 40-year-old actor. ““It’s a dangerous moment for the show because we have to test the audience and they have to believe that these characters would do this.” he concluded. For his part, Sam Heughan made confidences about his personal life that will melt Outlander fans. As for the rest of the plot, find out who Arabella, aka Jane Pocock, really is.
