It's a scene that changed a lot of things for fans of the Scott Brothersto which Sophia Bush returned, 17 years later. And this, without tongue in cheek!
Fans of Scott Brothers know: the Drama Queens podcast is the ideal place to get behind-the-scenes revelations from the series. Launched in 2021 by Hilarie Burton Morgan (Peyton Swayer) Bethany Joy Lenz (Haley James Scott) and Sophia Bush (Brooke Davis), joined for a few months by Robert Buckley (Clay Evans), it retraces with many anecdotes the nine seasons of the series (back on Netflix soon?). And a few days ago, the latter returned to a particular episode that marked him: that of Nathan and Brooke's sex tape.
“I didn't want to do it“: 17 years later, Sophia Bush is still angry after this decision by the Scott Brothers production
Remember: in season 4, we learned, to our shock, that not only had Brooke and Nathan slept together, but also that a sex tape of their antics existed! Information that Robert Buckley recently discovered, and to which he wanted to return in the podcast. Seeing him shocked, Sophia Bush says to him “How do you think I felt when I first read the script?”. And the interpreter of Brooke Davis tells the less than stellar behind the scenes of this script choice, with which she did not agree at all: “I didn't want to do it!” confides the lover of Ashlyn Harris.
The Scott Brothers : Sophia Bush returns to the episode of the sex tape between Brooke and Nathan (James Lafferty)
Sophia Bush then reveals what should have happened in the series: “Peyton and Brooke are at a party and Peyton gets into a heated argument with Nathan. When Brooke tries to comfort her, she says something so insulting that they also argue. So Brooke left, and that's when Nathan came in, sat down next to her, and started explaining to her that Peyton had been horrible to him. Brooke then tells him what Peyton said to her, they are angry and drunk, and they make this totally inappropriate decision to sleep together” remembers the new recruit of Grey’s Anatomy.
“I'm still bitter!“: Sophia Bush returns to this scene cut from Scott Brothers who changed everything for Brooke
However, as the team will discover at the time of broadcast, the production has made the decision to remove a particular scene…”When the episode aired, we discovered that they cut the beginning of the scene where Peyton says something unforgivable to me!” says Sophia Bush. “The real reason why Brooke and Nathan slept together has completely disappeared, and Brooke suddenly becomes the worst friend in the world.“. And to conclude: “I admit that I'm still bitter when I think about it because it's unfair for both characters!“
