Dexter: Original Sin – a trailer for the new series that no one wants to see

The killer Dexter Morgan will return again, but leaving Michael C. Hall (almost) alone since he will be played by Patrick Gibson in the prequel series Dexter : Original Sin.

In an acceptable world, Dexter Morgan would have died in the hurricane that hit Miami at the end of season 8. In a perfect world, the series created by James Manos Jr. would have ended after four, or even three seasons. But in real life, Michael C. Hall’s killer simply pretended to be dead before going into exile in the mountains. And since Showtime didn’t want to stop there, the character and his interpreter made their return at the end of 2021 in the late sequel, Dexter : New Blood.

If Clyde Phillips’ mini-series suffered from the same problems as the last seasons of the main series, it at least has the merit of having put an end to the story and set the record straight by making Dexter the selfish killer he should have stayed. At least until the channel finds another way to dismember the universe of novelist Jeff Lindsay. After the revival, it is therefore a prequel series on the youth of the butcher of Bay Harbor which is taking shape, Dexter : Original Sin.

Thus, after an already uninviting teaser, the American channel revealed a first trailer which still does not bode well.

DEXTER DEAD WINS

The trailer forOriginal Sin reveals that the events will in fact be the memories of Dexter, who sees his life flash by at the time of his death. Even if all this has already been explained at length, in detail, the prequel will follow Dexter’s killer training and the establishment of Harry’s Codewho will be played for the occasion by Christian Slater.

In view of the trailer, it is difficult to imagine what new strings the series will be able to pull on given that everything sounds like a huge repetition: killers to kill, lies to swallow, secrets to unearth and a double identity to hide.

Patrick Gibson, the new Dexter

For the rest of the cast, Michael C. Hall will be the narrator, while Debra will be played by Molly Brown. On the police side, Sergeant Bastista (who has the exact same look and accent) will take on the features of James Martinez and Lieutenant Laguerta those of Christina Milian. On the other hand, we do not yet know if Doctor Evelyn Vogel, who helped Harry develop the Code, will be cited or invited given that she showed up out of nowhere in season 8.

Dexter : Original Sin is scheduled for December 13 on the Paramount+ platform.
