In the series, we are in 1763. At the end of a long struggle, King Louis XV abandons New France in the hands of the British through the Treaty of Paris. Marguerite Volant, twenty years old, daughter of Lord Claude Volant, sees her life completely turned upside down by this change of regime. Sentenced to exile following an attempted murder, she managed to escape thanks to the English captain James Chase, who had a secret love for Marguerite.
