Patrice L’Écuyer discusses the end of his career on “It ends the week well”

This Friday, Julie Bélanger and her co-host Jean-Michel Anctil spent the hour with Patrice L’Écuyer, who was on the talk show It’s a good end to the week.

The latter was also present on the set to discuss the arrival of his very first solo comedy show, entitled L’Écuyer, after only 32 years of absence on stage. The popular host will take advantage of this return to the stage to reveal certain aspects of his life which are unknown to the public, despite his 42 years of activity in the spotlight.

Over the years, with each success, the career of the 64-year-old man is the stuff of dreams. “ When things go well, it’s the most beautiful job in the world » he explains. Aware that not all artists have this chance, Patrice then spoke about the precariousness of the environment, a subject which particularly moves him:

« I was an actor at the beginning. You lose your job 4-5 times a year, that’s what you do. You finish a theater show, you lose your job. […] It saddened me, because when I did shows like Skeletons in the Closet, almost everyone from the Artists’ Union came. And there, I saw people, I have a hard time talking about it, every 2-3 years let’s say, someone who came, who had been a big star, 20 years before, and then I know, for hearing them talk during breaks, how they are struggling. »

Jean-Michel then asks the host to Silence, let’s play! if he too fears one day experiencing a situation where his professional life will be calmer, even silent. To which Patrice responds, serenely:

« It’s going to happen. Because at some point I’m going to be too old. But that’s life! »

Nevertheless, the affection that the public has for Patrice is far from crumbling, he who still enjoys today the fallout from his many decades of working on television. Even if he is no longer on our screens 52 weeks a year, as was the case at one time, the time has not yet come for him to hang up his microphone, even though he still seems as passionate about media.

This is evidenced by his new comedy show, the media premiere of which will take place on November 11, 2025. It is also possible to obtain tickets on its official website.

It ends the week well is broadcast on Fridays at 7 p.m., on TVA.
