Was the series really filmed at the Élysée and the National Assembly? The production response

This Wednesday, November 13, 2024, 2 broadcasts the last two episodes of its new political series In the shadows some scenes of which were filmed in particularly prestigious locations. Télé Loisirs invites you to discover them.

The time for the outcome has (finally) come! Indeed, France 2 is broadcasting this Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 9:05 p.m., the last two episodes of the event series In the shadows with Swann Arlaud (César Casalonga), Melvil Poupaud (Paul Francoeur) and Karine Viard (Marie-France Trémeau). As a reminder, last week, this immersion in the ruthless world of politics did not meet with the expected success. Indeed, episodes 3 and 4 attracted only 1.47 and 1.28 million viewers respectively, or audience shares of 7.6% and 7.5%. This result places the series well behind the third issue of France has incredible talent and the grand finale of the first season of the series Les Experts: Las Vegas – which will indeed have a season 2.

In the shadows: Was the political series inspired by Édouard Philippe's novel really filmed at the Élysée and the National Assembly?

Asked by Leisure the producers of In the Shadowreturned to certain important scenes from episode 5, thus lifting the veil on certain sequences at the Élysée Palace and the National Assembly. They thus clarified whether these scenes were recorded in these places of power: “We did not film at the Presidential Palace, however, we did film some sequences at the National Assembly.” And that's not all! The production also confirms that the cameos with journalists Anne-Sophie Lapix and Laurent Delahousse were indeed filmed on the set of the legendary France 2 television news.

In the shadows: The secrets of filming the presidential meeting

During this exchange, the producers of In the shadows also returned to the impressive scenes of the presidential meeting of Paul Francoeur (Melvin Poupaud) which were filmed at the Gayant Expo, located in : “The second meeting, which is truly spectacular, was successful thanks to a subtle mix of special effects but above all filming and editing work: We had a few hundred extras who we inserted into something larger while using the rushes of a real meeting to give the impression of a crowd to fill this room with 3,000 or 4,000 seats.” And to conclude with a particularly amusing anecdote: “We filmed the day after a Michel Polnareff concert. The series teams even took over his dressing rooms.”
