On the red carpet of the event, Sam Heughan made an announcement that may disappoint millions of fans. “Here’s the secret. Jamie and Claire. There could be a separation. Things are getting really intense“he said, without giving further details. Comments immediately confirmed by the executive producer of the series, Maril Davis. “I think we'll see Claire and Jamie separated and see what happens.” Caitríona Balfe, the interpreter of Claire Fraser, for her part indicated that fans should expect “reunions and shocking unions”, has “very sad goodbyes and surprising greetings” and to “lots of intense fighting.”
