“Here It All Begins” Summary in advance of the episode of June 21, 2024
A final test to designate the valedictorians
The students were summoned to the amphitheater. Hortense and Antoine Myriel announce the exam results and all the students have an average. They are all received. Then, they designate the best students from each class: Tom, Jasmine and Kelly for the third years, Billie, David and Vic for the second years and Léonard, Maya, Malik and… Souleymane for the first years! A test will therefore take place tomorrow to decide between the students of the first years. Then, next week, the three best students from each class will compete in a final test to determine the valedictorian of each class.
Rose falls under the spell of a stranger
Rose and Constance have lunch at Double A. Rose declares to her friend that she cannot find the villa of her dreams to spend the whole summer there. As they chat, a customer seated at another table looks at them intently. Teyssier’s wife turns around and notices that this man is not staring at her, but rather at her friend. Suddenly, Billie arrives with two glasses of champagne offered by this mysterious stranger.
A few minutes later, Billie, in turn, brings a cup to the customer. The latter tastes it and realizes that it is not the same vintage. In reality, this one is much more refined than the glass he gave Rose and Constance. Billie explains to him that only the restaurant’s best customers can taste this champagne. The man is surprised and embarrassed. Billie reveals to him that Rose is Auguste Armand’s daughter, and she slips into the conversation that the latter is also single.
At the end of the meal, Rose meets her admirer over coffee. She takes great pleasure in putting him in his place, and the man seems to appreciate this frankness. He introduces himself to her as Paul Garnier on an extended vacation in the region. Then, he asks her out on a date tomorrow. Rose happily accepts the proposal. Could she be falling under his spell?
Lionel asks Kelly in marriage
In the early morning, Lionel proudly shows Jasmine his engagement ring. But against all odds, the young woman is not as optimistic as him, because she wonders if the time is really right to propose to her girlfriend. But Lionel is confident and certain of his choice. He asks Jasmine if she can take Kelly to the orchard at 6 p.m. She hesitates, but agrees to play the game, although she is wary of her friend’s reaction.
A few minutes later, Lionel joins Jude and Enzo in the kitchens of the Auguste Armand Institute. The three friends must prepare a dream picnic for dinner tonight. Lionel informs the two students that he wants to cook the dishes he prepared during his first cooking battle with Kelly. The objective is to remember the day when everything changed. So, will Kelly be touched by this delicate attention?
After a long day of stress, the long-awaited moment has finally arrived. Lionel, Jude and Enzo are dressed to the nines and impatiently await Kelly’s arrival. When the young woman arrives alongside her friend, Jasmine, Lionel rushes towards her to welcome her. But Kelly seems panicked. She wonders what she’s doing there and Lionel jumps into the water: “[…] There’s one thing I’m sure of, and that’s that I love you […] Kelly Rigaut will you become my wife?”.
Kelly is in shock and asks her little one to speak to her in private, but Lionel refuses to move. He remains there, kneeling, waiting for Kelly’s response. The young woman looks him straight in the eyes and says: “Marriage is not a magic band-aid, it will not solve all the problems at once”. Kelly gets up and leaves without looking back. Lionel is devastated.
Maya extends her hand to Quentin
At the Auguste Armand Institute, Quentin comes to say goodbye to his little sister, Maya. The young woman, who is cruelly angry with him for having hidden from her that he was responsible for their parents’ fatal accident, is very cold towards him. She launches a simple: “Good road” without looking at him. Leonard watches the scene helplessly and tries to reason with her, but Maya doesn’t want to hear anything. A few minutes later, Leonard and Malik discuss Quentin’s departure. Leonard admits to Malik that it was he who tampered with Quentin’s dish. Suddenly, the two young men cross paths with Maya’s brother. Leonardo said to him:
“Fight, because your sister is definitely worth it.”
Malik takes Maya to task. He finds her in the kitchens of the Institute and says to her: “Quentin, he only has you, you are his only family”then he tries to make her react by declaring that she is selfish and incapable of seeing the pain of others:
“You’re not the only one who lost your parents that day.” These words seem to make the young woman think. For his part, Quentin collects his suitcases from the Leroys. As he speaks to Jim one last time, he receives a text message telling him that his taxi has arrived. He prepares to leave, but Maya finds herself face to face with him.
Brother and sister sit down to talk. Quentin tells him what really happened the day their lives changed. At the time, the whole family was going on a weekend trip to Normandy. On the way, Quentin and Maya argued over a tablet. Their father wanted to grab the tablet, but out of anger, Quentin threw it in his face… thus causing the accident. After this tragedy which cost the lives of both his parents, Quentin became violent. Every night, before going to sleep, he promised himself that he would reconnect with Maya, but he never found the courage to do so. The young woman listens to this story, and tells her brother that it is not his fault.
At the end of the day, Leonard joins the table of Maya and Quentin, who celebrate their reconciliation. The young woman thanks her best friend for being there. She adds that thanks to Malik, she became aware of her mistakes. Maya asks Leonard why Malik does all this for her, and the young man reveals to her that it’s because he has feelings for her…
