Don't touch my channel. Like NRJ12, C8 has a meeting on November 15 before the Council of State to try to keep its TNT frequency. In the heart of summer, Arcom decided to suspend it until March 1, 2025 after noting several “shortcomings”including various regulatory infractions and a fragile financial situation. This procedure was contested by the broadcaster which intends to have its arguments heard before the highest administrative court. The next hearing should therefore decide the fate of the two branches and their employees.
“It’s only the viewers who decide,” defends Cyril Hanouna
While awaiting the verdict, Cyril Hanouna, William Leymergie and the others continue to present their shows, even if the mystery remains as to their future. And to increase its chances of success, the channel belonging to Canal+ launched a petition entitled “Support for the C8 channel: Let's defend the 1st TNT channel and save jobs!” to demand his survival next spring. Columnist Sasha Elbaz echoed this “very good idea” on the set of “Touche pas à mon poste” this Friday. Sequence that Puremédias invites you to watch in the video above.
A QR code appeared on the screen, inviting viewers to scan it to be able to sign this initiative and defend C8's three daily programs, “TPMP”, “Chez Jordan” and “Les animals de la 8”. “Every day, nearly 10 million people watch C8. (…) It will teach all the lesson-givers, all those who want C8 to stop and TPMP to stop, that we are here and that we can together – if we all mobilize – save the channel“, underlined “the editor's clue”. “For me, it's only the viewers who decide. The rest doesn't count“, concluded Cyril Hanouna, regarding this petition which had more than 100,000 signatures in less than 24 hours.
A whole group in the colors of this petition
In the afternoon, the manifesto was launched on social networks via a fifty-second video, massively relayed by several key figures of the group, including Gérald-Brice Viret, general director of Canal+ France. The latter noted by way of argument: “For a television of laughter, debates and freedom, for an ever stronger citizen bond, for the animal cause, for more than 400 professionals whose jobs are threatened, for the 1st TNT channel, #JeSoutiensC8”. The TNT channel 8 X account was even renamed in favor of this demand for the occasion, and the channel's star actors continue to encourage their loyal viewers to mobilize. A sufficient remedy to prevent its disappearance?
