A Polynesian lyrical singing group led by Bruno Demougeot was invited to Alsace at the beginning of November to participate in the competition for the best choirs in France. The small troupe was selected among the finalists. The show will be broadcast on France 3 in December.
A small group of Polynesian opera singers participated in a national program hosted by Cyril Féraud, which will be broadcast on France 3 in December during the Christmas holidays. In just two weeks, the fenua candidates had to form a small troupe called Te Reo Nui, led by Bruno Demougeot, to attempt this artistic adventure of a lifetime.
“We were the smallest choir, due to lack of means to send a real choir of around twenty or thirty people. The production supported us for six people so for the seventh person, we managed to find sponsors” relates Guillaume Matarere. Some choirs had to raise funds for this participation, like the Children's Choir of Brittany.
Ten choirs from ten regions of France gave their voices on stage to try to win this first edition of the competition for the best choirs in France.
For the first part of the show, Te Reo Nui performed a composition by Bruno Demougeot and Reva Juventin which won over the jury before revisiting “Stand by me” for the second part of the show. “We are one of the seven finalists” announces Guillaume Matarere. Who will be the best choir in France? We won't say more… But the Polynesian flag proudly displayed in front of the France Télévisions cameras at the Palais Royal, in Kirrwiller, in Alsace. “It was a great experience“retains Guillaume.
