The “Hunger Games” universe will be deepened thanks to a fifth book which will feature the second atonement, that is to say the fiftieth Hunger Games.

BOOK – May fate be favorable to him. Fans of Hunger Games will be delighted since the publishing house of author Suzanne Collins has announced the publication of a new novel. Titled Sunrise of the Reapingwhich can be translated as “Sunrise over the Harvest”, the fifth book in the literary saga should be released on March 18, 2025. And it can hope for a film adaptation…

The plot begins with the harvest of the fiftieth Hunger Games, that is to say the ceremony during which the participants from each district are chosen to participate in the macabre game organized by the Capitol. The book is therefore set 24 years before the original story published in 2008 and 40 years after the events of the prequel The Ballad of the Serpent and the Songbird.

Even if we do not yet know what precisely the novel will be about, we already know that the big winner of this edition of the Hunger Games is Haymitch Abernathy, the mentor of Katniss and Peeta. He is played by Woody Harrelson in the four films that adapt the original trilogy.

In her story, Suzanne Collins draws closer to the ideas of Enlightenment philosopher David Hume. ” With Sunrise of the ReapingI was inspired by David Hume’s idea of implicit submission and his words: “the ease with which many people are ruled by a few” »reports Associated Press.

The writer’s previous book, The Ballad of the Serpent and the Songbirdwas published in 2020 and he had the right to his own film released in November 2023 with Rachel Zegler (Snow White), Tom Blyth (Billy the Kid), Viola Davis (The colour of feelings) and Peter Dinklage (Game Of Thrones). For the moment, no information regarding an adaptation of the novel into a film has been revealed. But such an announcement would not be surprising given the success of the saga in cinema.
