For the past two weeks, powerful fires have ravaged the Los Angeles region, mobilizing the authorities who are making incessant efforts to limit human and material losses. Despite the extent of the damage and the still worrying intensity of the fires, certain sports organizations, like the Los Angeles Kings, have chosen to pay tribute to these heroes.
Returning to Crypto.com Arena after a series of five games on the road, the Kings made a significant gesture by modifying part of the central logo of their rink to salute the courage of the firefighters of the Los Angeles Fire Department who fight without release against the flames. This symbolic initiative was presented in a video broadcast on social networks, showing behind the scenes of the work carried out by the team’s staff. The result is not only aesthetic, but also carries great emotion, given the deep meaning of this tribute to the firefighters.
This is not the only outpouring of recognition from the Californian group. Before the opening puck drop against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday evening, several ceremonies are planned, including a segment dedicated to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
In addition, Trevor Lewis, who reached the milestone of 1,000 games in the NHL on January 4 against the Tampa Bay Lightning, could also be honored, after the initial postponement of his ceremony planned for January 8 due to the fires.
-At the same time, the Kings launched a donation drive to help the communities affected by this tragedy. The first initiative took place on Sunday, with the aim of collecting essential items. This mobilization will continue daily until further notice, demonstrating the club’s desire to support the victims of this crisis.
On a sporting level, the Kings will look to return to victory against the Penguins, after a 4-2 defeat against the Seattle Kraken. Third in the Pacific division, they are having an excellent season. Anže Kopitar and his gang are only six points behind the Vegas Golden Knights, the division leaders.
