Dr. Randy Abbey Takes Head of New Black Stars Management Committee

The Ghana Association (GFA) has appointed Dr. Randy Abbey as Chairman of the newly reconstituted Management Committee for the senior national football team, the Black Stars.

This Committee is responsible for effectively managing the administrative and logistical functions of the team.

In her role, Dr. Abbey will chair the Committee and also lead interactions with government agencies and other stakeholders.

He will be joined by former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah, who will act as vice-president, with a particular focus on player relations.

Other notable members of the Committee include Mr. Samuel Aboabire, President of the Greater Accra Regional Football Association and member of the GFA Executive Council, as well as Mr. Moses Armah, President of Medeama Sporting Club. Their primary responsibilities will include operations and match day activities, while protecting the interests of sponsors and other partners.

Additionally, Mr. Richard Nsenkyire, President of FC Samartex 1996, current champions of the 2023/2024 Ghana Premier League, will also sit on the Committee with special duties.

The main responsibilities of the Management Committee include effective management of the team, development of strategic plans, serving as liaison between the technical team and the GFA, ensuring adequate arrangements for internships, and providing logistical support. They will also make regular visits to the team in training.

In collaboration with the head coach and technical staff, the Committee will prepare and implement activity schedules for all upcoming matches and tournaments.

Furthermore, the Committee will oversee the release of funds for the team’s operations by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, ensure optimal travel arrangements, and ensure that team members uphold the dignity of Ghana as respected ambassadors.

The Committee will also establish appropriate policies and procedures for the effective management and support of players and officials, while fostering a positive relationship between the Committee, the technical team and the players.

Additionally, the Committee is expected to work closely with the Marketing and Communications departments of the GFA to ensure effective interaction with sponsors and partners, while facilitating smooth communication regarding team affairs.

GFA President, Kurt ES Okraku, expressed his excitement about the Committee, saying: “We are delighted to introduce this new Management Committee, comprised of experienced and committed individuals who are passionate about Ghanaian football. that they will do everything possible to support the Black Stars and ensure their success.”
