According to the latest bulletin of Météo-France, the French departments on yellow alert this Sunday January 19, 2024 are for floods : Aisne, Aube, Charente-Maritime, Haute-Corse, , Oise, and Vendée. The risk of thunderstorms is yellow in Haute-Corse also and in Corse-du-Sud. And as for what swallowsyellow vigilance is required in the Hautes-Alpes, Corse-du-Sud, Isère, Savoie and Haute-Savoie.

The forecasts for Corsica and this Monday

The case of Corsica is special because of the Garbi depression. Météo-France states: “Under the influence of the Gabri depression, temporarily sustained rains affect eastern Corsica”. Frequent showers could even be stormy in this eastern half with a rain-snow limit around 1,400 to 1,500 m. In the mountains, the quantities of snow are significant, often with more than 1 meter. On the terrain, wind gusts could reach 90 km/h.

For the rest, the bulletin explains: “At the end of the day, we are still expecting a few showers, sometimes stormy, particularly in the north of the island, but the intensities will be lower on the terrain, allowing an end to the orange alert.”. For Monday January 20, 2025yellow vigilance will likely be maintained for Haute-Corse due to storms, avalanches and floods. Haute-Savoie, Hautes-Alpes, Savoie and Corse-du-Sud will be on yellow alert for avalanches.
