Brazilian legend and World Cup winner Rivaldo has named his two favorites for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
FC Barcelona started 2025 in impressive fashion, with a resounding victory against Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup and a solid success against Real Betis, which secured them a place in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey .
Several players have distinguished themselves in Blaugrana colors, and club legend Rivaldo is convinced they are ready to produce the next Ballon d’Or winner.
In a recent interview, the former Ballon d’Or winner said: “Right now, I don’t see anyone ahead of Lamine and Raphinha in the race for the Ballon d’Or. If we look beyond the Spain, Salah is a serious contender this season, and Vinicius will still be in the mix. But a lot will depend on Barcelona and their success in winning collective titles, although both have had a fantastic season.

He also highlighted Raphinha as a strong candidate. “Raphinha is also a serious contender for the Ballon d’Or. He has scored goals, provided assists, and shown immense confidence on the pitch,” Rivaldo stressed.
Elsewhere, Hansi Flick’s side are still in contention for the title, although the task has become more difficult with a six-point gap to leaders Atlético Madrid.
