Algeria, with its immense proven reserves of natural gas estimated at more than 4,500 billion cubic meters, dominates the regional energy landscape.
Libya, despite its instability, also has significant resources, while Tunisia maintains modest but constant production.
In this dynamic regional context, Morocco is intensifying its exploration efforts to reduce its energy dependence.
Predator Oil & Gas is preparing to begin drilling the Mou-5 well in the Guercif license, an exploration area of 7,269 km².
Previous drilling in the region has already revealed the presence of biogenic gas at surface levels, an encouraging sign for explorers.
The new well will specifically target an area between 891 and 1,140 meters deep, a section which had not been sufficiently explored during previous campaigns.
-The presence of porous limestones and fault systems in this area suggests significant hydrocarbon accumulation potential.
Production estimates vary considerably depending on sources. If an external firm commissioned by the company mentions a potential of 169 billion cubic feet (around 4 billion cubic meters), Predator Oil & Gas is even more optimistic with a projection of 18 billion cubic meters.
Initially, the site could produce 20 million standard cubic feet per day, production that could be sustained for six years with a minimum of four producing wells.
This exploitation will require the establishment of specific infrastructure for the marketing of natural gas in compressed form, a major technical and logistical challenge for operators.
