Mark Gurman also Bloomberg recently clarified the release schedule for the new HomePod mini and Apple TV models, expected towards the end of 2025.
A launch between September and November
According to the newsletter Power On from Gurman, Apple aims to launch the new HomePod mini and Apple TV between September and November. This excludes a presentation in the spring or at WWDC 2025 in June.
These devices will be part of Apple’s broader strategy for the connected home market. In addition to HomePod mini and Apple TV, the roadmap includes:
-- A brand new domestic hub this year
- A doorbell/lock with Face ID and a security camera, expected next year
New hardware features
-
HomePod mini 2 :
- A new S-series chip for improved performance
- Better sound quality
- New color options
-
New Apple TV :
- A newer A-series chip, offering higher performance than the current A15 Bionic
- Support for Wi-Fi 6E, thanks to a chip combining Wi-Fi and Bluetooth designed by Apple
- A starting price potentially as low as 99 dollars in the United States
- A built-in camera for FaceTime calls
By scheduling these launches for the end of the year, Apple is making room for other products expected earlier in 2025, including:
- New MacBook Airs
- iPhone SE
- Second generation AirTag
- Entry-level iPad
An expected renewal
The current HomePod mini, released in November 2020, uses the S5 chip from the Apple Watch Series 5, while the current Apple TV relies on the A15 Bionic. These updates would allow Apple to strengthen its connected ecosystem while improving performance and features.
