Dune (1984)
David Lynch’s only big budget film, Dune is undoubtedly a commercial and critical failure when it is released in theaters, and yet it should not be missed. Bringing together the adaptation of the titanic universe created by Frank Herbert in just over two hours is a considerable task and a journey is strewn with pitfalls. Physically and mentally exhausted by the ordeal, David Lynch went so far as to deny his film, pointing the finger at pressure from producer Dino de Laurentiis, who would have had the last word on the final cut, the final edit of the film. A scar which is found in the credits: a certain Alan Smithee is credited instead of David Lynch at the request of the director, a pseudonym used by filmmakers who do not recognize the authorship of their film.
However, over the years, Duneacquired particular fame among moviegoers and became cult. A sort of cinematic phoenix. Like a man who wakes up, the viewer follows the story of Paul Atreide, played by a certain Kyle McLachlan, drawn into a political conspiracy on a galactic scale. A journey that will lead the young man to become the Messiah of the Fremen, an oppressed people of Arrakis. A film with a memorable cast, since in addition to showcasing the talents of Kyle McLachlan to the world, we find Patrick Stewart or even a certain… Sting.

-Blue Velvet (1986)
The story of Blue Velvet got off to a complicated start. If the cinemas screened it in 1986, the scenario was on the desks of Hollywood decision-makers from the end of the 1970s, but it was refused, in particular because of the sexual and violent content of the film. Without forgetting that the disaster Dunepassed through there two years earlier. It is ultimately Dino de Laurentiis who will agree to repeat the Lynch experience. And this is not the only companion from Arrakis with whom Lynch is teaming up on this new project, since Kyle MacLachlan is in front of the director’s cameras.

Despite a mixed critical reception, Blue Velvet was nominated for an Oscar for Best Director and a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor and Best Screenplay. Surprising and disconcerting, the film tells the story of a young student (played by Kyle MacLachlan) who, on returning to his sick father, discovers a human ear in a field…
Mulholland Drive (2001)
Without doubt the most beloved film of David Lynch’s career. Mulholland Drive will allow the director to win the prize for directing at Cannes in 2001, to be nominated for the Oscar for best actor in 2002, without forgetting four nominations at the Golden Globes (best dramatic film, best direction, best screenplay, best film music), while revealing actress Naomi Watts…
Playing on the notions of reality and illusion, this “love story in the city of dreams” begins with a car accident on Mulholland Drive. A woman with amnesia is rescued by an actress who wants to help her recover her memory. A quest which will quickly find itself confronted with a succession of strange events.
Twin Peaks (1990, 1991, 2017)
David Lynch’s talents do not stop at feature films, far from it. The director has several series to his credit, including one that is remembered: Twin Peaks. With its unique atmosphere, its singular characters and its surprising intrigues (all sprinkled with the supernatural), the series entered people’s minds in just two seasons (1990 and 1991).
We follow the adventures of FBI special agent Dale Cooper, played by… Kyle MacLachlan (still him), sent to Twin Peaks to investigate the death of a beautiful high school student appreciated by everyone: Laura Palmer. But behind the exterior smiles, many of the inhabitants of Twin Peaks hide their game…
