A legal soap opera that starts again. The so-called “cold case” center of Nanterre, specialized in serial or unsolved crimes, has reopened the case concerning François Verove, known as “Le Grêlé”, has learned 20 Minutesconfirming information from BFMTV.
A supplementary indictment, dated November 18, 2024, will attempt to elucidate a murder committed in 1990 in the woods of Saint-Aubin (Essonne). A man was found dead tied to a tree. A series of elements, such as the caliber of bullet used or a testimony, brings these facts closer to the profile of François Verove, former gendarme then police officer.
François Verove committed suicide in 2021, when justice was about to formally identify him as the author of several murders committed in the Paris region. He had left a letter in which he confessed to being the author of several homicides, without identifying his victims. He is notably suspected of having killed and raped Cécile Bloch, an 11-year-old girl found dead in 1986.
