“It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of the passing of Paul Danan at just 46 years old. Famous for his television roles, his exceptional talent and his unwavering kindness, Paul was a light to so many,” can we read in the press release.
“His premature departure will leave an irreplaceable void in the lives of all who knew him. During this difficult time, we ask Paul’s family, friends and colleagues to respect their privacy,” the statement continued.
Emergency hospitalized in 2024
Paul Danan made his name playing the role of bad boy Sol Patrick in the soap opera Hollyoaksbetween 1997 and 2001, on the British channel Channel 4. In 2002, he also played agent Max Mitford in the series The Queen’s Nose.
The actor then made his return to television in 2005 to participate in the first edition of the British reality show Love Island. He was also a candidate on the show Celebrity Big Brother in 2017.
If the causes of his death have not yet been clarified, Paul Danan spoke in 2019 about his addiction problems. In 2024, he revealed that he had almost died of respiratory failure due to “obsessive” use of his electronic cigarette. The actor was rushed to hospital in intensive care and his loved ones feared he would not make it through the night.
