Patrick Gendraud, president of the Yonne department, is dead: “an exemplary local elected official”

Patrick Gendraud, DVD president of the Yonne department, died on the night of December 31 to January 1, 2025. First a municipal councilor in 1989 in Courgis in Yonne, he will serve as mayor, general councilor and as president of the department from 2017.

Patrick Gendraud was an essential figure in Chablis. He died on the night of December 31 to January 1, he was 72 years old.

In a political career spent exclusively in Yonne, Patrick Gendraud left a lasting mark on the political landscape on the right. He spent 16 years at the town hall of Chablis and was president in a second term on the Yonne departmental council.

Guillaume Larrivé, former deputy for Yonne, paid tribute on “an exemplary local elected official, acting with heart, as a committed and dedicated man on the ground.”

1952 (January 29): birth, in 14th century.

1979 : installation in Courgis (driving school director in Chablis)

1989 : elected municipal councilor, in Courgis.

1992 to 2001 : mayor of Courgis.

1998: elected general councilor of the canton of Chablis.

2001 to 2017 : mayor of Chablis.

2008: elected president of the UMP of Yonne against Philippe Auberger (mayor of Joigny); he succeeds Henri de Raincourt. Dominique Mary replaced him during the year at the head of the Icaunaise right.

2011 : membership in the UDI and re-election from the 1st round in the cantonal elections.

2012 : defeated in the legislative elections in the 2nd constituency of Yonne (Without label but supported by the Nouveau Centre)

2014-2016 : president of the community of communes of the Pays Chablisien.

2017 : 1st vice-president of the new intercommunality, the Chablis, villages and terroirs community of communes, chaired by Dominique Charlot

2017 : elected president (LR) of the Yonne departmental council, replacing André Villiers.

2021: re-elected as president of the Yonne departmental council.

2022 : he leaves the Les Républicains party.

2024 : bears the label Miscellaneous right (DVD), he will not attend several sessions of the departmental council for health reasons. He died on the night of December 31, 2024 to January 1, 2025.
