Playing a first match since Christmas, the Laval Rocket did not prevail over the Syracuse Crunch in a sometimes frustrating duel which ended with a score of 4 to 1 in favor of the visitors at Place Bell.
A sign that nothing was going well for the Montreal Canadiens’ farm club, Owen Beck threw down his gloves in the second period. The 20-year-old center has never been known for his toughness, but he didn’t hesitate to accept Dylan Duke’s invitation.

The Ontarian, however, looked bad in this fight, being thrown to the ground by his rival after a few seconds. Beck also fought in November against Jon Gruden of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
This fight did not have the desired effect for the Rocket, who allowed a goal less than a minute later. It wasn’t the best outing for goalkeeper Connor Hughes. He gave in four times out of 23 throws.
Roman Schmidt, Milo Roelens, Jack Finley and Quebecer Daniel Walcott scored for Joël Bouchard’s men. Syracuse had lost the two most recent clashes with Laval after winning the first two of the season.
Defender Tyler Wotherspoon scored his first of the season for the local favorites, midway through the third period, helped by Joshua Roy and Beck.
Still at Place Bell, the Rocket will try to get their revenge on Saturday afternoon.
