Nitish Kumar Reddy reaches his maiden Test half-century with a cracking cover from left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc on the third day of the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. As the ball flowed to the boundary rope, the Visakhapatnam all-rounder pulled back Allu Arjun's 'Pushpa Raj' move to celebrate the feat.
Coming into bat in a pressure situation, Nitish Kumar Reddy played an innings of courage and determination as he reached his half-century in 81 balls. By developing a partnership with Washington Sundar in the middle, India took a position to avoid the follow-up with seven wickets lost.
Nitish Kumar has been in good form throughout the series, accumulating important runs for the teams when the top order has failed to deliver. In the first Test in Perth, Nitish Kumar scored 41 and 38*, followed by 42 in the two innings of the day-night Test in Adelaide. Despite scoring just 16 runs in the third Test at the Gabba, the Melbourne Cricket Ground saw the youngster score a half-century.
He had several scores in the 40s in this series, but he finally managed to convert that score into a 50.
