The day after October 7, foreign ministries around the world advised their nationals against traveling throughout Israel. This travel instruction continued throughout 2024 but now three states have decided to lower this alert level.
The first to do so was China. Beijing now defines Israel as an “orange” destination except the area north of Caesarea, south of Ashkelon and west of Beersheba, which remains “red”.
Japan and Britain joined China.
This decision will have positive effects on tourism but also on the Israeli business world. Indeed, many Chinese businessmen, in particular, have refrained from traveling to Israel for a year, compromising a certain number of contracts. Furthermore, insurance companies refused to cover travelers who decided to go to Israel and many therefore gave up.
Now these obstacles have been removed for China, Japan and Great Britain and other countries may follow this path.
