Cross-country skiing: Astrid Oeyre Slind makes Therese Johaug fall for it
You had to have something underfoot to make you fall for it Therese Johaugimperial last weekend during the skiathlon de Lillehammer (Norway). Specialist in the classic style, this is the feat that has managed to achieve Astrid Oeyre Slind on the20 kilometer individual of the Davos cross-country skiing world cup (Suisse).
Impressive throughout the long route prepared by the Swiss organizers, the Norwegian never failed. In a good rhythm, the Scandinavian cross-country skier cut the line after more than an hour of effort to win, at 36, his very first success on the circuit.
Behind her, Kerttu Niskanen held his rank. Ranked among the favorites of the day in a racing format that she likes, the Finnish smoothed out his effort perfectly to maintain his second place on the podium. A nice performance which allowed the Iivo’s big sisteralso in this same place during the men’s event, to beat a Therese Johaug in the hard over the last kilometers of the day.
Red bib for leader of the general distance classification on her back, the multi-world medalist, who should not initially not participate this weekend in Switzerland, started strong before losing time in the last three kilometers of the race.
The only Frenchwoman competing in this competition, Julie Pierrel achieved an honorable performance the day after his first career top 20 picked up after reached the quarter-finals of the skate sprint. Thirty-fourth when cutting the line, Haut-Savoyarde gained experience on its second weekend within the world caravan.
