An explosion took place around 9 p.m. Monday November 25, 2024 in the Novasco factory (formerly Ascométal) in Hagondange in Moselle. “During continuous casting, a pocket drawer opened. A ton of liquid steel at 1500 degrees then spilled out,” according to an employee contacted by telephone by France 3 Loraine, on site at the time of the incident.
Two people are in absolute emergency after the explosion of a molten metal pocket. An employee suffered very serious leg injuries. “They took a wave of steel. It's the first time that this has happened. We don't know what happened.”
A third victim is in “relative emergency” according to our information.
The Novasco factory in Hagondange, near Metz in Moselle, specializes in small section products for automobiles.
