At the end of the week, the platform notably launched a new Swedish series entitled The Sky Heist. In just one weekend, it found itself in fourth place in the Top 10 series in France.

What is Le Casse du Ciel about?

The Sky Heist may please fans of The Money Heist. The story centers on Rami and Michel. It's about two childhood friends who decide to embark on one last heist to steal millions from an ultra-secure Swedish fund depository before fleeing by helicopter. But the police are never far away. What if everything fails during this final mission? Everything must be prepared down to the smallest detail since no errors will be tolerated.

Each of the two friends has their own motivation to succeed in this heist. This therefore makes the story all the more dramatic and touching beyond the simple subject surrounding the heist.

The real heist that inspired The Sky Heist

Directed by Daniel Espinosa, the series is a Swedish adaptation evoking a real heist. The events took place not far from Stockholm. In September 2009, a helicopter landed on the roof of a bank in Västberga at around 5:30 a.m. This was supposed to be ultra secure.

Two men got out of the helicopter and entered the building, breaking windows. Explosions coming from inside the building were heard immediately after this. Several million dollars were stolen without a single shot or act of violence. The police were unable to do anything despite their presence. But justice always triumphs and the suspects were arrested and prosecuted for the bank robbery, but also for blocking several roads and for the theft of the helicopter used.
