Heartbreaking.

During an interview given to The Team, the Angers striker returned to the death of his father, Fabrice Lepaul, French champion in 1996 with Auxerre, whose career ended abruptly at the age of 21 due to a road accident: “My father comes out with half of his skull scalped, fifteen days in a coma, fractures that he no longer knows where to turn. The first assessments are that he will be in a wheelchair and that he will not walk again.relates his son. In the end, he stayed in the hospital, he treated all the ailments he had. But his passion for football had ended. Finished. No longer want to play. Whereas before, it was eat, sleep, live for football. »

This first stroke of fate will unfortunately not be the only one for Fabrice Lepaul. In May 2020, the retired striker, who had been spotted at the time by Guy Roux, was the victim of a new road accident, this time tragic in Baldenheim (Bas-Rhin). His son then recounts the most difficult decision he had to make in his life: “We had papers to fill out to validate the fact that we were stopping the machines. Only I could do it. (He is an only child) […] When the machines were turned off, I was next to my father, I just asked him for forgiveness because it was the only time I gave him medicine, he who never wanted it.I told them: “I’m not going to stay for a hundred and seven years. In an hour, it has to be fixed.” It lasted 50 minutes, the machines turned off. And then there it is. It was… weird. It felt like the day was slow. I was pretty emotionless, I didn’t cry a lot. »
