Kinoshi Takes the Reins of Selangor FC

Japanese tactician Katsuhito Kinoshi has officially been named Selangor FC’s new head coach, taking over following the sudden resignation of Nidzam Jamil last month.

Late last night, Selangor announced the news, highlighting Kinoshi’s immense experience and potential to improve the club’s fortunes. The release highlighted his deep understanding of the game, coupled with strong leadership skills.

Kinoshi’s arrival marks a turning point for the Red Giants as they look to strengthen their ambitions. The club have expressed confidence in their ability to foster team cohesion, implement strategic play and mentor young talent, assets they consider crucial in their quest for glory.

“His vast knowledge of coaching, the result of working with iconic football figures such as Dragan Stojkovic and Giovanni van Bronckhorst, ensures that our team will be given the direction and identity necessary to flourish,” noted the press release.

Kinoshi himself shared his excitement, stating that joining Selangor is a huge honor for him. He expressed his eagerness to work alongside the team’s promising players, saying: “Together, we will work tirelessly to cultivate a team that is not only tactically astute but also brimming with passion and an unwavering drive to succeed.” »

The 60-year-old coach has achieved important milestones in his career, including working with Stojkovic, who led Serbia to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Currently, Selangor are in second place in the 2024/2025 Super League, 11 points behind leaders Johor Darul Ta’zim, who have 40 points. The club remain in contention for the Malaysia Cup, while also placing themselves strongly in the 2024/25 AFC Champions League (ACL2), where they sit second in Group H, just two points behind South -Koreans from Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.
