you will restart less often

Microsoft has announced some changes to the way Windows 11 will be managed in the future, particularly in the system update process.

The brand has been talking about implementing updates for several months now. hotpatch which allow a complete set of security fixes to be deployed to the system without requiring a PC restart.

The Hotpatch thus makes it possible to directly modify the code in memory of the processes while they are running, which avoids having to restart the entire system, the application of the changes being immediate.

In the future, Microsoft will therefore distribute hotpatches alongside quarterly updates, with the consequence of no longer requiring that 4 restarts per year instead of 12 currently. We will then benefit from 4 major updates requiring a restart and 8 planned hotpatches, with the possibility of seeing other updates interspersed depending on needs.

This system mainly targets companies which must have a Microsoft subscription with Windows Enterprise E3 or E5 and have a fleet of machines equipped with Windows 11 Enterprise 24H2 with Microsoft Intune.
