The designer of the cult 90s comic strip “Tom-Tom and Nana” Bernadette Desprès died on November 19. During an interview published a few months ago, she confided which character from her imagination was her favorite.
It’s the end of an era. Bernadette Desprès, co-creator and designer of the comic strip Tom-Tom et Nana died on Tuesday November 19 at the age of 83. It is to her, and to the two writers of the comic strip Jacqueline Cohen and Evelyne Reberg, that we owe the explosive adventures of the Dubouchon family. Adventures which have fascinated thousands of readers over several decades, in particular the little faithful of the magazine J’aime Lire: an episode was offered at the end of each volume.

Interviewed last May as part of the Pop Women Festival, which highlights female creativity, Bernadette Desprès spoke about the genesis of Tom-Tom and Nana, but also about her relationships with the characters. She had also given the name of her favorite character and contrary to what one might have believed, it is not one of the main protagonists, but the eccentric and somewhat annoying Aunt Roberte, the sister of Adrien Dubouchon. “I love Aunt Roberte!” If we make fun of Aunt Roberte, at the same time, I love that she is not a perfect woman at all,” explained the designer with a smile.
