Sainte-Anne-de-Sabrevois: The SQ is investigating the possible murder of an agricultural producer

The owner of a dairy farm in Montérégie, found lifeless late Tuesday evening on his agricultural land, could have been the victim of a murder in Sainte-Anne-de-Sabrevois.

The body of André Girard, 67, was discovered around 11 p.m. on his agricultural property located on Rang du Bord-de-l’Eau. According to our information, his body bore marks of violence, but the authorities did not know what could have happened to him.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Throughout the day on Tuesday, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spoke of a death “with nebulous circumstances”, without however mentioning the criminal theory.

But at the end of the afternoon, the investigation was officially transferred to the SQ’s crimes against person team, which deals in particular with murder cases.

Cautiously, the Sûreté du Québec nevertheless continues to describe the death of Mr. Girard as “suspicious”, without talking about murder for the moment.

“The results of the autopsy may provide us with answers,” said Sergeant Audrey-Anne Bilodeau, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

Various witnesses were met during the day and forensic identification technicians also visited the scene to try to collect evidence.

No arrests have yet been made in this mysterious case.

André Girard had criminal records for drugs and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
