The first fire broke out on Rue de la Liberté. The fire apparently started outside the house before razing it. Two cars parked in the driveway were destroyed. The destructive element also damaged the neighboring house.

The call came into the emergency service at 1:05 a.m. Some 25 firefighters from Trois-Rivières intervened and received assistance from firefighters from Saint-Étienne-des-Grès.
When passing the News writerTuesday morning, three representatives of the fire investigation service, a member of the police investigation service, a forensic identification technician and a police officer were on site. They were particularly busy examining the carcass of one of the vehicles that was set on fire.
People coming out of the neighboring house that was damaged by the fire refused to answer questions from the News writer.
The second fire took place in a multi-unit building under construction on Parent Boulevard, not far from the first fire. The firefighters received the call around 2:10 a.m. Some 25 firefighters, including reinforcements from Saint-Maurice and Shawinigan, were called to the scene of the fire which left only the foundations.
“When the firefighters arrived, it was a widespread fire. We know that this fire is not accidental,” confirms Mr. Ouellette, describing the night as “full of twists and turns”.
The two fires caused no injuries.
