the weekly closing day confirmed by the administrative court

and Jura will maintain their day without bread, even if it was deemed too long by the Federation of Bakery Companies (FEB) and the baker-pastry chef Feuillette in Lons-le-Saunier. The organization, which brings together manufacturers and bakery and pastry chains, like the Feuillette brand whose representative acted alone in the Jura, attacked, before the administrative court, the prefectural decrees setting a weekly closing day in all bread stores.

Protecting craftsmen against chain competition

A measure taken by the majority of the profession aimed at defending a day of rest for artisan bakers in the face of competition from companies that do not have the same work constraints. Either they only serve as a warehouse for industrial bread, or they have a large number of staff whose role is limited to selling, or at worst baking the dough that is delivered to them.

To do this, Me Flory, who represented the FEB, defended that the said decree had not been taken by an indisputable majority. This is contested by the administrative court which demonstrated it in detail in its deliberations, before rejecting the request in Doubs and Jura. This weekly closing day is therefore maintained.
