Friday the 15th, the refectory of the Jean-Jaurès de Castanet college was full to bursting.
Students, parents, teachers and college staff gathered to celebrate the graduation ceremony.
The reunion between classmates was warm and bursts of laughter echoed in the room. For many, it was an opportunity to see friends who were now scattered across different high schools. Salomé and Léa, two former classmates, found each other with a big smile: “It’s great to see each other again because we’re not in the same high school,” they confided.
For parents, this evening marked an important milestone. “It’s their first diploma!” exclaims a mother, a little moved. “Maybe I’ll shed a little tear.” The words, full of pride, reflected the feeling shared by many families, aware that this first step represents the beginning of an educational journey.
The ceremony, although sober, had a strong symbolic significance. Classes were invited to take a souvenir photo alongside their homeroom teachers, immortalizing this milestone.
The principal of the college, Bernard Vigouroux, took the floor for a solemn speech. Underlining the importance of the work accomplished by the students, he warmly congratulated the young graduates for their results, but also their teachers and parents for their constant support. “This patent is the fruit of your work and your perseverance, but it is also the result of the commitment of an entire community,” he declared.
The evening ended in a friendly atmosphere, with students and their parents leaving the room with smiles on their faces and, for some, a glimmer of nostalgia.
