Nicolas was 22 years old when he was killed in front of a nightclub in Saint-Péray in Ardèche last October. This tragedy occurred almost a year after the death of Thomas, 16, killed during a village ball in Crépol in Drôme, on November 19, 2023. Both were registered in the same rugby club, which will play his first match since the death of Nicolas, this Sunday, November 17.
Nicolas, a young 22-year-old rugby player, was shot dead in front of a nightclub in Saint-Péray (Ardèche) on the night of October 31 to November 1. Sunday November 17, the players from his Romans-sur-Isère rugby club will play their first match since this tragedy. A match which will also pay tribute to Thomas, who was part of the same club. The latter was stabbed to death almost a year ago during a village ball in Crépol.
A “strong feeling of injustice and incomprehension”
After the loss of Thomas and then that of Nicolas, the pain is still strong for the Romans-sur-Isère rugby club. “We expected to pay tribute to Thomas for this anniversary, for our leaders, for their staff, for the players. We know that it will once again be a complicated moment,” said Tristan Tardy, co-president, with a heavy heart. from the club, at the microphone of Europe 1.
Within the club, there is deep dismay: “There is a very strong feeling of injustice and incomprehension which reigns for most of the players who do not understand why this fell on him. And it is unfortunate that it falls on anyone, but when it affects us, when it affects directly, it’s all the more complicated to live with”, explains Tristan Tardy, who evokes an “inevitability”. “It’s difficult to understand and assimilate for players who have difficulty getting back on track, and especially for those closest to them, a little surface.”
