The man suspected of the murder of a homeless man in and several attempted homicides imprisoned

The man suspected of being the author of several attacks and homicides, in and the Netherlands, was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention, the Évry prosecutor's office (Essonne) said this Saturday. The suspect is suspected of the murder of a homeless man in (Rhône) with a cinder block, as well as several violent attacks and attempted murders in Évry (Essonne), (Côte-d'Or), (Bas-Rhin) and Rotterdam (Netherlands), said the same source.

The suspect, arrested Tuesday evening at the station (), declared his name Levis E. and to be a 32-year-old Cameroonian subject to an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF). Friday evening it was “indicted for attempted assassination” for “acts committed in Évry on October 23”specified Grégoire Dulin, public prosecutor in Évry. During this attack, a man sleeping on the square in front of the Évry-Courcouronnes station was hit in the face. Seriously injured, the victim was given a total incapacity for work (ITT) of 45 days.

Links confirmed to Lyon murder

Investigations made it possible to establish a link between the attack in Évry and the murder of a Moldovan homeless person in Lyon. “The genetic analyzes carried out as part of the investigation opened by the Lyon prosecutor's office into the murder charge made it possible to establish a connection with the facts before the Évry prosecutor's office”confirmed the Lyon prosecutor's office. The body of a Moldovan homeless man was discovered Monday morning near Perrache station, with a large wound on the head. A concrete block was found near the victim's body.

In this context, the Lyon public prosecutor's office announced its intention to transfer the case: “The Lyon public prosecutor's office was going to relinquish this investigation in the coming days in favor of the Évry public prosecutor's office in the interest of good administration of justice”. Grégoire Dulin also clarified that “in the coming days, the Évry public prosecutor's office will receive from the public prosecutor's offices concerned all the procedures involving the accused, which will be referred to the investigating judge in charge of the case in Essonne”.

The suspect is the target of other investigations in France and abroad. In Dijon, in July, a 42-year-old woman, who is not homeless, was attacked by a man who hit her in the head with one or more rocks. The victim's ITT was set at 10 days. In Strasbourg, on October 30, a homeless man was violently beaten. “The victim was initially hospitalized with a life-threatening prognosis, but his life is no longer in danger”said the prosecutor. In the Netherlands, Dutch police suspect the suspect of trying to kill a 37-year-old homeless man on November 5, near the old port of Rotterdam. An attempted murder filmed by video surveillance.

Investigations are continuing to determine the precise role of the suspect in each of these cases.
