The Monaco Grand Prix, a historic Formula 1 event, has been extended to the calendar until 2031, the organizers of the world championship announced this Thursday. “Formula 1 will continue to race on the streets of Monaco until 2031 inclusive, following a six-year extension of the existing agreement with the Automobile Club of Monaco (ACM) who ran until the 2025 season“, indicated in a press release the promoter Formula One.
Traditionally contested at the end of May at the same time as the Indianapolis 500 – another essential event in motorsport -, the prestigious Monaco GP will take place at the beginning of June from 2026, it is also specified in the press release.
In the list of the most frequently run Grand Prix in the world championship since 1950, the Monaco GP, contested in the streets of the Principality, is in second place, behind the Monza circuit (Italian GP), and is dispute without interruption since 1955. The Rock cannot, however, really pride itself on exciting the fans during its GP. The cause is a route that is too narrow which does not offer much overtaking and therefore no spectacle. During the last edition held on May 26, the Top 10 established during qualifying remained the same at the finish.
On this occasion, the Monegasque Charles Leclerc won for the first time in “his” national Grand Prix, a victory which had been denied to him since his debut in the elite, in 2018. The 2025 Monaco Grand Prix will take place from May 23 to 25 and will mark the 75th anniversary of its official F1 debut.
