The department of pre-university education and literacy is now tackling the situation of contract teachers not retained following the last recruitment to the local civil service and those in the special zone of Conakry.
Minister Jean Paul Cédy recently received in audience the representatives of the two structures around the nodal point of the SLECG demand platform, namely their commitment to public service.
During the discussions, we learn, Jean Paul Cédy had made a commitment to assess the situation in terms of the lack of teachers in establishments, which he will subsequently have to submit to the government for approval.
“The minister (Cédy editor’s note) said that he was going to raise the situation of those in Conakry and other cities, because it was not up to him to commit. It was just up to him to make the proposal to the government”the general coordinator of contract teachers in the special zone of Conakry told us.
Despite the latest recruitment of more than ten thousand teachers, the deficit remains glaring and many must claim their retirement rights at the end of the year.
Although failed, these teachers continue to teach classes in public schools to fill the void.
“The minister also told us that if there is a possibility in terms of the budget that he will tell us his priorities because we are already on the ground until now, we continue to provide the courses. I come from a public school like that, for my hours at high school October 2 in Kaloum”, continued Mohamed Latige Brahim Salim.
The will of Jean Paul Cédy, and the needs are among other factors which plead in their favor, he adds.
Discussions with the minister must continue next Friday at the department. This time it will be a question of each camp presenting its proposals.
To be continued!
