US President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday continued to nominate those who will implement his vision of national security and foreign policy issues.
He notably recruited Florida Representative Mike Waltz, a former soldier, as national security adviser.
A former member of the special forces decorated multiple times for his bravery, Mike Waltz is considered a hawk on national security issues, particularly in relation to China and Iran, and is a staunch ally of Israel.
Mike has been a strong supporter of my America First foreign policy agenda, and he will be a strong supporter of our pursuit of peace through strength
Donald Trump said in a statement.
Mike Waltz served on the House Armed Services, Foreign Affairs, and Intelligence committees.
His nomination will not need Senate approval.
This is the second representative chosen by Donald Trump after Elise Stefanik, appointed Monday ambassador of the United States to the UN.
The president-elect is also expected to announce shortly who will lead the Departments of State and Homeland Security, two key positions in his administration. The expected candidates are respectively Florida Senator Marco Rubio and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem.
He has already made his campaign co-chair Susie Wiles his chief of staff, his first appointment after his victory. He also chose former Rep. Lee Zeldin to lead the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

On Tuesday, Donald Trump also named former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, an evangelical, as US ambassador to Israel.
The former president displays unwavering support for Israel, but the appointment of the former pastor is particularly revealing. Mr. Huckabee's religious beliefs shape his view of Israel and the Palestinian territories.
Mike was a great public servant, governor and spiritual leader for many years
supported Donald Trump in a press release. He loves Israel and the Israeli people, and, likewise, the Israeli people love him. Mike will work tirelessly to bring peace to the Middle East!
This summer, Mr. Huckabee identified two non-negotiable points for evangelicals
: a pro-life stance and unwavering support for Israel, according to the Christian Broadcasting Network.
He has condemned efforts to reach a negotiated ceasefire agreement and rejects the very notion of occupation of Palestinian territories, a term recognized by the UN.
There are certain words I refuse to use
he said in 2017, quoted by the American public network NPR. The West Bank does not exist – it is Judea and Samaria. There are no colonies. They are communities. These are neighborhoods. They are cities. There is no occupation.
He is the father of the state's current governor, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who served as White House spokeswoman for part of the former president's first term.
