: three golden champions including Floriane and Florian

Floriane Hugon from Saint-Clair and Florian Bongiovanni from Pommevic created a surprise on Friday October 25 by winning their final to become champion and French tennis champion in Cap d'. It wasn't their party on the ephemeris! However, these two talents from Tennis -d' blossomed well that day. This seems natural when we refer to the etymology of this first name of Latin origin which means “flowering”! All the stars were aligned for a great party!

Before hitting the little yellow balls of the National Tennis Cup 2024 in Hérault, the two locals had to go through qualifying phases, including one in Valence-d'Agen last March. From the initial 11,000 entrants, only around 1,500 competitors of all ages remained to participate in this final phase on the thirty courts at the Agde international tennis center. Despite this, the neighboring clubs of Valras, Sète and Béziers were called upon to play all these little people from the qualifications to the final in 5 days in 6 days, from October 21 to 26.

Floriane's first national title

Floriane, the Sainte-Clairoise, ranked 30/4 over 35 years old, began her sporting career with roller skating for around ten years. She returned to sport with badminton stopped in her tracks by an injury. She then turned to tennis. Qualified for this 2024 National and after four matches, she beat a Haute-Pyrénées in the final 6-2/6-0 for her first title of champion of and dedicating it to her educator Florian.

Florian, the champion educator

Florian, the Pommevicain but with a little Saint-Clair blood all the same (because you have to remain a little chauvinistic!), ranked 15/4, set an example as a qualified educator of the club. This regional level cyclist has been playing tennis for 14 years. Injured in the semi-final during the 2023 Agathois National, he returned with determination this year to reach the final. After 5 matches concluded in 3 sets, he found a Montalbanais in the final to dominate him in 2 sets with a score of 6-2/6-2. Constrained by more than uncertain weather, the organizers made him play the semi-final and final on the same day with little recovery time between!

Tony Ledru too

A third Valencian wins the national title. It is President Tony Ledru (ranked 30 in over 35 years) who offers a third gold medal to Tennis Valence-d'Agen.
