She trained in the field thanks to Lyoudmyla Levchenko, 60 years old. “I will never forget what she told me in the first days: do you realize that we will not all survive until victory? She was preparing us,” she said during the tribute to the deceased, holding back her tears. “We have extraordinary young people, I admired them, I learned from them and they learned from me […]. But the best die,” she adds.

“She wanted to help as much as she could.”

Daniil Liachkevytch, for his part, had been a soldier since 2014. He had volunteered to go to Mariupol “on a mission of no return”, according to one of his comrades in arms.

Both spouses met in the third Azov assault brigade. “They were not together for a long time, but they shared very similar principles of life,” said Daniil Liashkevych, nicknamed “Berserk”, who died following a Russian anti-aircraft missile strike, according to the Ukrainian media Kyiv24.

“It warms our souls to know that his heart was filled with love like Valentyna's. When the time came, they met death together,” added 31-year-old Anastassia Vasylchenko.
