An outburst of violence against a backdrop of homophobia. During the night from Thursday to Friday, a horrible murder occurred in Morteau (Doubs), a town located very close to the Swiss border. After an evening in a bar, a 21-year-old young man is suspected of having beaten a 59-year-old cook to death because of his homosexuality.
According to the first elements, the latter would have made sexual advances to the young man who would then have twisted and unleashed, beating the fifty-year-old. Alerted by witnesses, the gendarmes could only note the death of the cook. Near the scene of the tragedy, they arrested an individual whose shoes were stained with blood. In police custody, the suspect admitted to having kicked the victim, particularly in the head.
Three videos in the suspect’s phone
Investigators from the Pontarlier research brigade also found three videos on the suspect’s phone that he himself filmed during the attack before sending them to acquaintances. “In the first scene, the victim is sitting with a bloody face. In the second, the victim is lying on the ground, still making sounds. On the third, it no longer emits any sound,” said Etienne Manteaux, public prosecutor of Besançon, on Friday.
Already convicted of armed violence, the young man, who had consumed alcohol and drugs at the time of the tragedy, was indicted for aggravated intentional homicide and imprisoned. He faces life imprisonment.
